Lennox Head is Open for Business after Mini Tornado
The Caravanning Industry has once again demonstrated its resilience in the face of extreme weather, in this case, a mini tornado!
Showing true Australian spirit, Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park has been fully operational since Monday, just three days after a powerful storm struck Lennox Head.
The mini tornado, described by meteorologists as a ‘freak of nature’, caused significant damage to coastal towns in Northern New South Wales.
Since then, the Lennox Head community has rallied together to restore the popular seaside town to its natural pristine condition.
John Dineen, CEO of Dineen Tourism Management, contracted by North Coast Holiday Parks to manage Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park, was pleased to report the clean up was completed on Monday morning, saying, “a small tornado isn’t going to get us down”.
John was staying in his own motorhome at the Park when the tornado hit on Thursday morning, and described the event as “quite horrifying”. Once it was established everyone was safe and well, police and SES crews provided great assistance with the huge clean up job, which involved clearing the property of all debris and re-laying turf.
The Park has since been thoroughly inspected to ensure it meets certification standards and it is clear of all glass and debris and, contrary to media comment about the general Lennox Head area, there are no asbestos concerns at the Park.
John commended the Park Managers, Aaron and Debbie, and their team on their “fantastic” efforts to ensure the Park was restored to order as soon as possible.
Negative media reports of the effects of last week’s powerful storm, has ignored the positive side to the story; the strength of the community and the fact that local industries have been working hard to get their businesses back in order. Tourism is the lifeblood of the region and needs the support of visitors to ensure that the storm does not have a greater lasting impact.
Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park are looking forward to a very busy Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend, with visitors travelling from far and wide to stay at the picturesque Park situated beside the famous Tea Tree Lake. This weekend the region is hosting the 18th Annual ICON Australia All Girls Surf Showdown (Australia’s premier women’s surfboard riding competition), ensuring a high tourist trade.
Other Caravan Parks in the region also remain fully operational and are welcoming tourists for the busy period ahead. Details on these Parks can be found here.
