Our Better Homes & Gardens Competition Winners Are Ready For Their Next Great Adventure!

The 25 lucky winners of our Better Homes & Gardens Cabin Holiday Competition will soon be enjoying a cabin getaway with their family and friends and exploring many fantastic destinations all around Australia! 

Thanks to BIG4 Holiday Parks, the winners will each enjoy a cabin holiday valued at $1,000 at one of BIG4’s 180 Holiday Parks across Australia.  Cabin holidays are a great alternative for all holidaymakers and travellers as they offer self-contained facilities plus all the lifestyle benefits of a holiday / caravan park.

Here’s where some of the winners are planning to go…

Regular caravanners, George and Faye Duff from Broadmeadows in Victoria, are busily preparing for their month long caravan trip through Victoria and South Australia to Lake Eyre in August.  Lake Eyre is attracting many visitors since the floods earlier in the year which have revived the parched lake, filling the area with the rich colour of native wildflowers and greenery and attracting flocks of birds and other wildlife to the area.  Like other travellers, George is keen to “take a real good look” at the spectacular lake during this rare time of flood.  George said they might even take the grandkids with them this time!

The Johnson family from Carramar in Western Australia were very excited by their win, knowing exactly where they are heading: Busselton.  “It’s close to Margaret River – we like to go to the beach and the wineries” explained Linda.  Linda and her family regularly share a caravan with her sister-in-law’s family on their trips away as it’s much more affordable than other accommodation options.  The group has been planning to return to Busselton since they stayed there a few years ago on holiday, but had not committed to the trip due to accommodation costs, “but now that’s been taken care of!” Linda said happily.  The Johnsons are looking forward to their first stay in a cabin!

Heading off soon to the Sapphire Coast are Mick and Narelle Dunnill from Birregurra in Victoria.  The coastal region in the far south of New South Wales was recommended by a relative as a great family holiday destination.  The Dunnills and their two young children usually travel to New Zealand to visit family for their holidays “so it will be a bit of a change to holiday in Australia!” said Narelle.  The Sapphire Coast offers a range of great activities for holidaymakers, with beautiful beaches and rainforest, whale watching, museums, amusement parks, and a variety of water sports. “I think a cabin holiday will be fun” Narelle commented.   

Michelle Giaquinto from Rydalmere in New South Wales and her immediate family generally prefer to stay in cabin accommodation on holidays.  Michelle explained that they like to have the convenience of their own kitchen, “And we like our creature comforts!” Michelle laughed.  A hospital office manager, Michelle plans to go away “somewhere warm and out of the rat race” with her brother and her parents.  With no immediate travel plans, Michelle says it will be a great debate when she and her family ponder over the long list of options!
